Workfront, which used to be known as AtTask, gives companies a complete full-circle view of their operations from the perspective of workers in every department and at every level. This is a scalable system that facilitates portfolio management, project management, workflows, and more. Every person in a company can use Workfront to boost their productivity through greater empowerment and control of their responsibilities. It is a cloud-based solution that can be configured to work for companies of any type or size that use portfolio and project management approaches in their work.
Designed to be both intuitive and simple, Workfront streamlines the development, scheduling, and execution of projects through interactive Gantt charts, extensive real-time reporting, and dashboards that keep everyone up-to-date on project status and moving towards project completion on time and within budget. It contains more than 50 built-in reports, but is entirely customizable to a company’s unique needs and requirements. Multiple projects can be planned and aligned to capacity, sorted into prioritization categories, and communicated to keep all stakeholders thoroughly informed.
Workfront users have noted the following positive views of the software:
Many users note that the system is fantastic at its basic functionality, including orchestrating timelines on multiple projects and enabling communication among large groups of people – essential aspects of project planning and execution.
Other basic functions users enjoy are how easy it is to create, modify, and duplicate tasks, create templates, view all of one’s assigned work and tasks, and receive email notifications about completed tasks.
Users also appreciate the extent to which the views can be customized by each individual user to suit their own needs.
Several users also noted that the reporting feature is not only easy to use, it’s also highly customizable and very powerful in the details that can be extracted in the reports.
Users have noted the following drawbacks to Workfront:
A number of users wish that the system would integrate better with other applications such as Gmail.
Other users note that the time tracking feature is both cumbersome and not customizable.
At least one user wished there was an “undo” button.
One simple improvement needed that was mentioned by several is expanding the number of tasks that display with a “see all” option. The default is 250 tasks, and if you have more, then you have to do another step to see them all by scrolling down to the bottom of each screen to keep going.
Another improvement would be allowing a parent task to be assigned to someone and have all the sub-tasks auto-fill in rather than having to assign each sub-task.
A few noted that the pricing is on the high side for larger companies. Some of them would like to include more clients into projects, but the cost becomes prohibitive. This means extra work to communicate project details with them.
According to its users, Workfront offers robust functionality in spite of a few simple improvements that need to be made. Customer reviews were silent on the issue of customer and technical support, so hopefully no news is good news.
