Salesforce is a recognized leader in the CRM software market, offering a range of cloud-based CRM software tools that can be utilized by companies of any size. It is specifically geared to the financial and wealth management sectors. Companies use Salesforce to manage customer accounts, generate track leads, manage complex marketing initiatives, track performance, and provide superior customer service before, during, and after a sale has occurred.
It also offers the Chatter social media app to facilitate communication and collaborative efforts across a company. It even offers an API so your company’s developers can develop and launch custom apps. In one of the many versions available, Salesforce Outlook, seamless integration can occur with email, calendar, contact lists and task management functions. Being web-based means the system can be engaged from anywhere and anytime, which goes for app development as well.
Pros
The customization capabilities in Salesforce is a major draw for many users, allowing them to configure the software in ways that make the most sense for their unique business context. In general, users highlight that Salesforce is easy to use, extremely flexible, and offers a huge array of tools and apps for the CRM environment.
Cons
One of the few problems highlighted by Salesforce users is the complexity of navigation, which translates into wasted time. Users are vocal in wanting more shortcuts in operating the software. Others have noted that some of the limitations built into the software don’t make sense. For example, when conducting a marketing campaign, a mass email is limited to only 250 recipients, which rarely covers one’s sending needs in such situations. Some users feel that user interface is quite dated and needs to be updated in order to be more modern. Others note that the specific UI for reporting functions is clunky and not intuitive to operate. A number of users also note that the developer console contains a significant number of bugs that get in the way of smooth operation, and that the debugging tool does not work very well. Finally, also on the developer side, there is near-universal dislike and frustration with the Governor Limits. Although they’re there for reason, no one seems to like them. Finally, several users note that the mobile app platform has a long ways to go before it could ever be considered robust.
By glancing at the above two paragraphs, you might conclude that there are more cons than pros with Salesforce, which is why these software reviews often need a bit of interpretation to make them clear. Salesforce is a clearly a superior product, so much so that users often have little to say in praise other than it’s the best, most powerful and feature-rich CRM software they’ve ever used. That part is such a “given” among users that the focus then quickly shifts to what doesn’t work well or what needs improvement. Notice that many of those drawbacks related to the developer side of Salesforce rather than the end-user side of the equation.
