Resaleworld.com created the Liberty4 e-commerce software solution with simplicity and flexibility in mind for consignment, thrift, and resale retailers. Its comprehensive approach covers accounting, CRM, inventory management, and point of sale needs for stores of any size, whether there will be just one user a hundred users. Liberty4 is available as an off-the-shelf product or as an SaaS via Liberty Cloud.
Either way, it includes e-commerce integration, iPad item entry, credit card processing, and much more. The cloud option lowers operating costs as the software is leased, and of course also allows users to access the system when on-the-go through laptops, iPads, and other tablet devices. With the Liberty Mobile License, users can even enter items directly to their accounts via iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch devices. Liberty4 users can easily access critical inventory and customer information whether to just view it or make changes. Whether it’s contact information, purchase histories, notes, paying accounts, or customizing various screens, Liberty4 makes customer tracking easy. Its inventory management features follow the same flexibility in making purchases and customizing item entry. The POS features can handle unique payment methods to consignors, including right from within the POS itself. It can also track rewards and layaways. Liberty4 includes 70 pre-fabricated reports that can be exported for additional analysis, manipulation, and interpretation. The solution also allows for easy emailing of payout histories and item lists, as well as the creation of marketing materials such as postcards.
Pros
As a vendor, customer experiences with Resaleworld.com vary, but the vast majority of users find the company responsive and offering excellent technical support. The few negative opinions I came across concerning sales and support staff were promptly addressed by the company, revealing that in some instances the old adage that “the customer is always right” doesn’t always hold true. Most describe the support as professional, timely, and courteous. Users who previously were managing inventory by hand uniformly praise Liberty4 as making the stores much more efficient and therefore more profitable.
Cons
A few users note that network licenses are expensive relative to the cost of the software. One of the few consistent complaints, especially from those who were previously managing their store by hand, is that Liberty4 contains so many powerful features it can be hard to make sure you’re leveraging all its robustness for your business. This also makes the learning curve for those users rather steep. A few users noted that the user manual is not very good, so if you’re the type of person that likes to have a physical book with robust instructions, you might be disappointed by that. Other users noted that while emailing reports is fairly simple, it would be nice to be able to add explanatory notes to those emails.
The users who seem most pleased with the software are those who went the extra mile in cost to sign up for both the Tag plan (for easy item pricing) and the Support plan, which allows you to receive all the updates as they come out, and all the support you’ll ever need.
