Retail Pro is a powerful E-commerce Software solution used by more than 35,000 people around the world in every imaginable retail segment. It’s geared towards brick-and-mortar stores that also take orders over the Internet. It makes retail management easier with all the features you need, from POS and CRM to inventory management, accounting, and merchandising.
It includes store replenishment capabilities, managing returns, even employee tracking for hours, absences, and commissions. For marketing purposes, it tracks all kinds of customer information and loyalty metrics. Going further than many of its competitors, Retail Pro includes a business intelligence application that allows you measure and report on a variety of key performance metrics (KPIs) that help you make better business decisions in managing stock levels, inventory balancing, tracking SKUs, and item performance. If needed, it can integrate with a variety of third-party applications from ERP to MRP to HR systems. This is an on-premise solution built on Delphi 7 utilizing an Oracle 9i database. It works on a variety of Windows operating systems.
Pros
In general users find the software very easy to use, and that support is good, especially the online support. In fact, just about every single customer review of the software mentions that working with the software is a real pleasure because of the quality of support received, although it should be noted that nearly all of these positive comments relate specifically to a distributor company called JDA (JD Associates), while a few of them also mentioned other distributors.
Cons
Users whose inventory consists primarily of handmade specialty retail items find that the Retail Pro is not the best for them. Other users were not especially satisfied with the price of the software, finding it expensive and questioned if the value delivered really justified the price. Others note that it is not easy to learn. If all you need is a POS solution, it works just fine, but you’re not going to get a manufacturing process module with it. Others noted that you can’t change an item into a resale item, which would be useful. A few users note that the software is a memory-hog, taking 4GB of memory to run problem, which is probably why some users complain that the system is sometimes slow or crashes unexpectedly. Other users noted that if you have a multi-store operation, data transfer between stores needs to be greatly improved and become a real-time source of data at the central hub. A number of users also noted that the reporting functions in the latest version are not as robust as hoped for.
If your company is big enough to warrant a sizable investment into an E-commerce Software solution that includes a multiple-store brick-and-mortar operation, Retail Pro may be a very good choice for you. If it appears to be a solution that will meet your needs, you’ll want to count yourself among the many happy customers who receive support for the software through JDA.
