Qgiv is a web-based fundraising and crowdsourcing system. While Qgiv’s client base does include organizations of all sizes, we recommend Qgiv for smaller organizations—those with just a few staff members and those run largely on volunteer labor. Moreover, because there is just a one-time set up fee (as opposed to a monthly fee with an annual contract), it is also a great option for groups who are only looking for a way to crowdsource funds in relation to a specific event or cause (e.g., raising money for a political campaign or in response to a specific crisis, such as a flood, fire or earthquake relief fund).
Qgiv’s suite of tool is designed to support several types of non-profit fundraising activities: online donations, peer-to-peer fundraising, political fundraising and on-site fundraising. Depending on the service, their start-up fees range from $99 (for political fundraising or on-site fundraising) to $799 (for peer-to-peer fundraising). Regardless of the service, there are also transaction fees (anywhere from 4% to nearly 7%, depending on the type of credit card being used to make the transaction). While the transaction fees can add up, Qgiv offers attractive front-end features (e.g., branding and personalized messaging for forms that truly convey the look, feel and ethos of one’s organization or one-time cause). The software also receives few complaints in terms of usability, performance and functionality. Qgiv is also highly recommended to anyone hoping to collect donations on-site; in contrast to several other donor management options, it has been developed with the aim of supporting the ability to process donations anywhere and anytime, whether it is on a computer, tablet and mobile phone.
